THADDEUS MIST -  FINISHED PAGES!

Could it be?! Have I actually finished them?!! It's been an intense few weeks but it seems to be the case that yes, I have!

So here they are, minus the words, for your perusal... I'm off to bed.

THADDEUS MIST contd

So, here are what I call my "rough roughs" with the initial layout ideas for my fifteen pages of the up-coming graphic novel. There will be a certain amount of tweaking between now and the finished article, but you get a pretty good idea from this of the content and characters... line work only at this point.

To those who think that perhaps their eyesight is failing them I say worry not, for the text boxes are filled with squiggles not words. An expert amongst the TM team will be in charge of the lettering and boxes for the entire book to ensure continuity and make life easier on the poor down-trodden illustrators.

INITIAL THADDEUS SKETCHES

Here are my first scribblings of how the main characters of my portion of the "Thaddeus Mist" anthology are likely to look. Thaddeus is about four years old when we first meet him and is being described by the nanny, Miss Kenward. They both age during my bit, hence the variations whilst Mr Mist senior will, I think, merely start out a little darker about the whiskers. More to follow...

FORGOT TO SAY...

This is the style I'll be doing it in... but in B&W.

Like this!

HMMMMMM...

The background image I added seems to be behaving idiosyncratically on some monitors... why can't they all be the same size/aspect ratio thingy?? I'll see what I can do.

Anyhoo, The fine fellows I was "tabled" next to at the recent sequential arts festival in Leeds known as Thought Bubble, Dave and Colin of AspectUK, have asked me to be an illustrative contributor to their next anthology; a graphic novel about the mysterious life of one Thaddeus Mist. I'll have about fifteen pages of the title character's life story as told, in my section, from the nannies perspective... very interesting.

I'll start posting roughs (if allowed) when the ball starts rolling.

BACKGROUND EMBELLISHMENT

I felt the urge to add a little something to the new background, so I did!

FIRST NEW POST IN AN AGE!

We've re-vamped our website at Applejack & Reed and now the blog; so does this mean that there'll be plentiful and regular posts from now on? Stranger things happen at sea, as Elmcroft will attest to, but we make absolutely no guarantees.

Our recent attendance at the THOUGHT BUBBLE in Leeds was only our second at such an event and, as with the first, it started with a great deal of trepidation on the Saturday morning, but by the end of play on the Sunday our mood (and I think I can say this on behalf of Elmcroft AND myself) was one of inspired optimism mixed with that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from spending time with like-minded souls.

We must do more...
