HMMMMMM...

The background image I added seems to be behaving idiosyncratically on some monitors... why can't they all be the same size/aspect ratio thingy?? I'll see what I can do.

Anyhoo, The fine fellows I was "tabled" next to at the recent sequential arts festival in Leeds known as Thought Bubble, Dave and Colin of AspectUK, have asked me to be an illustrative contributor to their next anthology; a graphic novel about the mysterious life of one Thaddeus Mist. I'll have about fifteen pages of the title character's life story as told, in my section, from the nannies perspective... very interesting.

I'll start posting roughs (if allowed) when the ball starts rolling.

BACKGROUND EMBELLISHMENT

I felt the urge to add a little something to the new background, so I did!

FIRST NEW POST IN AN AGE!

We've re-vamped our website at Applejack & Reed and now the blog; so does this mean that there'll be plentiful and regular posts from now on? Stranger things happen at sea, as Elmcroft will attest to, but we make absolutely no guarantees.

Our recent attendance at the THOUGHT BUBBLE in Leeds was only our second at such an event and, as with the first, it started with a great deal of trepidation on the Saturday morning, but by the end of play on the Sunday our mood (and I think I can say this on behalf of Elmcroft AND myself) was one of inspired optimism mixed with that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from spending time with like-minded souls.

We must do more...

A NEW LOOK AND A NEW LINK

As you may have realised things are looking a little different here. The urge came upon me and this is the result. Very BLUE.

Also there's a link (on the right) to craftybugger.co.uk, my crafty site which at the moment has very little content but which will soon be swarming with curious examples, tips and insights into my other little world.

 HUZZAH!

MR MOFFAT'S MANTIS

Here are some photos of the final 3D mantis for your perusal.
He's roughly 10cm tall and very well behaved.

SKATING MANTIS - TAKE TWO

Mr Moffat has decided upon a more realistic look to his mantis... and no board!

SKATING MANTIS COMMISSION!

This is the rough for a crafty commission that has come my way. Mr Moffat, the mantis man, wants me to make a mantis-like creature to sit upon his desk. This came about through the window display I seem to be doing on an on-going basis for Creativity. Mr Moffat, yes the mantis man, saw my stuff there and spotted a link between his fascination for the insect world and my passion for anatomically dubious bugs of all kinds. I'll be making it from polymer clay, wire, rusty bits, glue and anything else close at hand... as usual, really!

I'll post a pic of the finished thing in due course.
